My favorite part of Science Detectives is being able to be a reliable mentor, as we teach the same group of kids on a weekly basis. I love being able to see the positive impact our program has on the schools we partner with!
Why did you join the program?
I joined the program because I love teaching, and I really want to help kid’s foster a love and appreciation for the STEM field at such a vital and early age.
What is your favorite lesson?
My favorite lesson would have to be when we create catapults. It is very engaging because the kids get to work in teams and brainstorm the best design for their catapult. It encourages creative problem solving, and is extremely fun when everyone gets to fire their marshmallows and other small objects!
What else do you do at ASU?
Currently I am a senior at ASU, double-majoring in Biomedical Sciences, as well as Anthropology. I am an assistant teaching aide for human anatomy and physiology. I also have taken part in a few research projects. In addition, I have held leadership roles in my sorority. Relevant to my future career, I work in a rehabilitation hospital, and have had an internship traveling among some clinics in the valley.
